The Who’s Magic VW Bus is an original Volkswagen  1965 Panel Van, Not only has the bus been autographed by Roger Daltrey CBE and Pete Townshend, and panted with an original  design by The Who’s art director, Richard Evans, it features images of the original band members and the band’s logo.

The bus was made for a charity auction to raise money for a UK charity Teenage Cancer Trust,  which Roger is sponsor.

The VW bus came about from a collaboration between The Who and VW last year when the Who did a special live concert at the celebration event “60 years of the Volkswagen van” in Hanover, Germany.

Anthony Jones  was the winner of The Who’s Magic VW Bus,  The Magic Bus competition raised over £28,000 ($40,000) for the Teenage Cancer Trust charity.  Almost 9,000 tickets were bought. Good job guys!

VW Double Cab and Singel Cab Toys

28 01 2009

I was just looking around on Amazon today and found a few fun dicast Toys that I thought I would share with you

The first is a Classic Volkswagen Single Cab red paint with a canvas tent on the back it has that classic look that the old VW Single Cabs have, I can’t tell if they are trying to imitate sealing wax or ruby red for the color but it is close either way.

The next is a 1962 double cab in vintage shape looks like they are still restoring this model. it has mismatching paint on the door and just a little primer to give it that worn in look. Great vw gifts for the Volkswagen enthusiast in your life.

Snowplow Driver drives a VW

13 01 2009

How does a German snow plow driver get to work? In his Volkswagen bug of course.

This is a German VW beetle commercial from way back but I thought it was pretty good. I’ve heard that the VW beetle does pretty good in the snow because all the engine weight is on the back wheels, but that’s just the word on the street. If you have a classic beetle and know for sure leave a comment and let me know.

Custom VW Truck Double cab/single Cab

Custom VW Truck Double cab/single Cab

I found this 1963 Volkswagen Stretch Double Cab with teal and white paint, surfing the web last night. The engine is an 1835 cc dule carb, the transmission is a ’67 4 spd man, and it has a Sunroof from Deluxe micro-bus but I don’t know much more about it than that. There are a lot of custom buses out there and from my point of view I like original VW buses just the way they came off the line maybe a engine upgrade and a new set of wheels but other than that stock is king to me. This little VW truck for some reason caught my eye and I have taken a liking to it. Maybe because it is a custom double cab and I have a soft spot for the VW truck but I think mostly it is just a well done resto combining two classic VW that are very similar to begin with the cab of a late ’60 double cab and the bed of a Late ‘50/early ’60 single cab. In the end you get the best of both worlds the extra room on the cab to fit more people and the longer bed in the back for more cargo room, not to mention the sunroof for that California going to the beach feel. The deluxe Chrome and the Canvas Tilt Canopy don’t look bad ether. I would love to know more about this bus so, If anyone has more info on it let me know.

Watercolor of a 23 Window VW Bus

26 09 2008

I came across this watercolor of a 23 window VW bus surfing the web today. The artist is Michael David Sorensen and you can see his art here. He gives a great description of what a lot of bus owner do to some of the vintage VW rides that they own. A funny thing about Volkswagens is that they are everywhere you see them on the road in shops getting worked on but more often than not you see a classic VW sitting in a field behind someone barn with rust and weeds as their backdrop. This is a great depiction of that.
